Explosive Revelations in the Herald Sun - Turnbull and Abetz should be forced to resign over Fake Leaked Email Secret Meeting with Godwin Grech
Incredible evidence has emerged that could soon lead to the resignation of Malcolm Turnbull and the Deputy Liberal Leader in the Senate, Eric Abetz.
It has been revealed by a highly placed source that Malcolm Turnbull and Eric Abetz both met with Treasury Official Godwin Grech prior to the Senate committee hearing on Friday.
At that meeting, the email was shown to both Turnbull and Abetz. They apparently did not take a physical copy of the email, but did write down its contents.
If ever there was a smoking gun condemning Malcolm Turnbull's leadership, surely this is it. Not only has he met with someone who had a copy of a fake email, he has surely been involved in discussing Grech's testimony before the Senate committee. Did he prep Grech for that appearance? And did Turnbull suggest to Grech that the email should be leaked to Steve Lewis?
Turnbull has claimed that he didn't have a copy of the email. But this is just semantics - he had seen it, and copied it word for word. And if he had suggested to Grech to leak it to Steve Lewis, Turnbull is complicit in the dissemination of the forgery - something he has already denied.
In addition, Senator Abetz will be accused of misleading or indeed lying to a Senate Committee hearing. At that hearing where Godwin Grech was grilled by Senators, Abetz stated that he had heard about the purported email from a journalist. If it is proved that Abetz met with Grech to discuss the email, his lies could see him forced from the Senate.
This is what Abetz said to the Senate Committee:
"Senator ABETZ— A person, a journalist in fact, has suggested to me....That there may be...That there may have been a communication from the Prime Minister’s office...It was along these lines and I want to know whether it is familiar to Mr Grech: ‘The Prime Minister has asked if the car dealer financing vehicle is available to assist a Queensland dealership, John Grant Motors, who seems to have trouble getting finance. If you could follow up on this as soon as possible, that would be very useful.’ This is what has been suggested to me by somebody, and there is of course the suggestion in today’s media that such a document exists."
I would be surprised if Turnbull and Abetz can survive this latest crisis. As has been stated by the Rudd Government - when you are already in a hole - stop digging. Turnbull and Abetz have both lied, and they must both resign.
