Herald Sun Confidential - Up to the Minute News and Entertainment Scoops - Will You Pay for This?
Rupert Murdoch recently indicated that News Corp websites around the world will soon start charging for user access. A good thing too - you just cant expect people to get top quality, up to date information for free. Speaking of which, I happened to check out Melbourne's Herald Sun Confidential pages.
I was astounded to see some amazing stories. Firstly, Madonna is preparing to marry Jesus - great news huh? And we also have the Emmy's worst dressed. But then i happened to glance across at another potentially religious story.
This was not the headline, but it may as well have been: "Stan Zemanek Back from the Dead - Seen on Great Ocean Road". The story to go with their Starwatch column tells us of "Former shock jock Stan Zemanek is enjoying a road trip along the Great Ocean Rd to celebrate his 60th birthday." That's just unbelievable, particularly given he died a couple of years back.
Then we have the next little gem. "Ritchie is Still Logie Favorite". Hang on a minute, aren't we in September? I'm staggered that the Herald Sun has the scoop on the betting for the Logies even before next year's nominees are announced.
Nah, its all too good to be true. Stan Zemanek is still dead - the story was hot off the press on June 4, 2007. And Kate Richie was the hot favorite for the Logies on May 4, 2008.
I just cant wait to pay for these types of breaking stories. Stan Zemanek driving down the Great Ocean Road. Doesn't sound like a huge scoop, but to still be on the website as lead starwatch story over 2 years later - by God, that story has some legs. Top Notch.

Well spotted, and well said. Any website that wants to charge for access really has to assess what it has to offer and why the punters would want to pay for it. Keeping it up to date should be a no-brainer.
Hey YG. Check out the site again. Zemanek is dead again (story now missing) but Ritchie is still Logies favourite LOL. Why remove one but not the other? Id pay for that NOT.
