Stolen Car Crashes in Bayswater - 16 year old Boy dies - Passenger Critically Injured - Innocent Woman in Hospital
If you were to read the stories of Darwin Award winners, you are likely to burst into riotous laughter. In fact, some of the stories of those who lose their lives doing stupid things are so funny you almost forget that someone actually died.
So when some idiot loses their life after stealing a car and running away from police, its interesting that death isn't so funny after all. Yes, a 16 year old kid actually died. His body was crushed to pieces after the car he was driving crashed. If this scenario didn't happen so often, this guy would surely qualify for a Darwin.
But this is some real shit. This isn't something we can laugh about. Sure, he was an idiot. But his family have to live with the fact that their son isn't coming home.
His friend who was in the passenger seat is in a critical condition. He is only 15.
But perhaps the worst of it is the 23 year old girl who was just going about her own business. The car she was driving was smashed into by the 16 year old dead kid. She is in hospital, in a stable condition.
I'll tell you whats funny though. One minute you are alive. The next you are dead. That's some serious comedy right there. Not. For God's sake...think.

I was one of the commenters, and know for a fact that they aren't all by the same person. I did read your whole article, but still find it overly offensive. Yes you make the point that death isn't funny, but it's crass and far too early to put this across the internet. I understand that you're trying to make the point that people should watch out and be more careful when driving, but seriously, like I said,m it's too early to post this bullshit. You're hurting people as they are still trying to grieve. He has only just passed away guys, if you're going to make a commentary on his death, at least maybe have the decency to wait, grieving is hard enough without someone making a total ass of himself by making a public spectacle of something that shouldn't have even made it into the news. The only reason it's become newsworthy, is because these days the only news that is ever reported is bad news. Maybe next time you make a spectatorship of something from the news, make it something that won't offend as it's written.
So when should it get written? When it no longer has an impact?
People need to learn. If that means that somebody feels bad in reading this then thats a small price to pay.
I never said they were ALL written by the same person, I said a few. And 1:41am is right. As a writer and journalism student, we are never told to wait to write a topical piece. In today's media, if you wait even a day your article looses relevance and snap! you're not selling your work and not getting paid. Now, I know YG isn't working for the Age or the Australian, but he is always been a advocate for road safety and being separate from mainstream media he has the luxury of writing what he really thinks.
If this offends you, then that is your right. But there is no need to lower yourself to name calling and the prolific use of the word fuck (to which I found offensive). Your second post clearly shows you are able to string a sentence together without using these school yard tactics and I'm sure YG would welcome the debate.
Lastly, I doubt the family of this deceased young man are searching the internet for blogs from random people about their dead son nor would they disagree that he was an idiot for stealing the car and fleeing from the police. This anger would undoubtedly be compounding their grief.

After hearing about the poor 6 year old kid killed by a drunk driver just before Christmas i just have to keep banging on about these issues. If that offends some people i am sorry, but it just needs to be said. Some of this stuff is just heartbreaking yet so totally avoidable.

The Teenager that died was one of my best mates. No matter who you are it doesn't give you the right to make a statement on his death you have no idea about this boy. You would have no idea what it is like to lose a best friend or son or family member would you because if you did you wouldn't post anything like this! This boys funeral was today and let me tell you this was one of the hardest things i have ever had to do. Maybe you should think of how his family and his friends including myself and all the people that knew him are feeling right now. Grow a fucking heart its not funny that a boy so young so loved by many people lost his life. Maybe one day you will realize the effects of what you say about people has on other people.
Anonymous @11:54pm... I am very sorry for your loss and the pain you are experiencing. I understand the pain of loss more than you realise. You are not the first person to encounter the sudden death of a loved one. But perhaps you should think about the 6 year old boy who was recently killed or any one of the families of the innocent people killed through no fault of their own and be grateful that your best friend didn't take anyone out with him because if he had, only then would you REALLY understand YG's viewpoint.
As hard as it is to think ill of the dead, as hard as it is to be angry with a dead person, as hard as it is to admit it, your friend is the only dickhead mentioned on this page.
While I truly regret that he lost his life and I hope his passenger makes a full recovery, I can't feel sympathy for him. I feel it for you and I feel it for his family but mostly I feel it for the poor innocent young woman who will have months of rehabilitation to go through.
You have been placed in a hideous situation by his recklessness and you have every right to be pissed off, angry and distressed. But we have every right to makes statements about the world in which we live. We do not live in Soviet era Russia or Fascist era Germany. Out thoughts are not policed and they are certainly not policed by you.

Teenagers in a STOLEN car RUNNING away from the police. Not funny, luckily the right person died in this event, not the poor girl minding her own business. I feel for the family and people who had to attend this crash.
I knew this kid and, I hate to say it, but he deserved what he got. He was an idiot for stealing the car, he was an idiot for trying to evade the police, and he was an idiot for putting others' lives in danger. He was always extremely rude towards me and my friends, so I have NO SYMPATHY whatsoever for him.
Anonymous@12:05AM, I think saying that he deserved is just uncalled for. Would you be saying that if it happened to somebody you were close to? Imagine how all the people involved in this are feeling, not just the boy who died, but the other boy in the car who has to live with this for the rest of his life, or the woman who was hurt, or the people attending the accident. When i first saw this article I focused only on the title, and was furious that somebody could put funny in the name, but after reading the article it is clear that the blogger is trying to get the message out there of how NOT funny this is, and that people need to be more responsible, more careful and have more sense. But to say that someone deserved to die, particularly such a young boy is just heartless.
