Geelong's Gary Ablett and His Gold Coast Decision

Ive not paid much attention to all the media hype surrounding Gary Ablett Jnr and his possible move to the new Gold Coast club when his contract at Geelong expires. Sure, Ive seen all the fuss, but i don't usually concern myself with Geelong matters. Geelong won the flag last year - that's enough pain for any of us to bear...

It doesn't really matter a whole lot to me where he ends up. He is actually one of those rare freaks in the AFL - you know he is good, and it pains you to see him play well against your own team but you cant help enjoying the spectacle anyway.

So it seems Gary has had about enough of all the fuss. Cant really blame him. I happened to read Gary's article which he submitted to the Herald Sun. It was good, damned good. He explains that he will make his decision about moving to the Gold Coast when he is good and ready. And he will make it on his terms and wont do so just to keep the media happy.

Well done to him. I wont say that i hope his team does well this year, but you have to wish him the best. He has gone up a rung in my book.

I call myself a realist and i want to tell it like it is. Somebody has to speak the truth. Because seriously, what a selfish bunch of insular tools we have become in today's dreamy Australia.

Maybe we arent so different to the rest of the world. And maybe it was always this way.

Anyway, until things change, i remain young and grumpy.
