So the media are on one of their warpaths again. Yes, Brendan Fevola is alleged to have done something wrong. And hasn't it made Caroline Wilson excited? I'm sure she has lived for the day that she could write about the Fev again. She's been hanging for an indiscretion - it's about all she really cares for. Good ol Barry Hall is a changed man isn't he? Funny how somebody breaking another player's jaw seems to be all forgotten. Instead, lets go after a guy who enjoys a drink a little bit too much.
So the whole morning we had to tune into a trumped up media story about Fevola apparently being charged for an indiscretion at the Brownlow's last year. The charge? Drunk in a public place. Well woopdee do to that.
Was it for real? According to the media, yes, charges were "imminent". Right up until the point that they weren't. It just so happens that Victoria Police confirmed today that charges wouldn't be laid. Why did they confirm it? Because the media were pushing for the charges to be brought before the end to the statutory period where these matters must be dealt with.
Talk about trial by media. It was a non story before the media got involved. If there was a real issue, it would have been dealt with last September. Id be staggered if the crime of "drunk in a public place" was one that the police needed a year to investigate.
Nevertheless, someone at The Age online was a little confused.
At 12.45pm - the story "Fev Faces Fevola Charge" runs directly opposite "No Brownlow Charges for Fev".
Ok, so its a little mistake, and we'll grant them some leeway. An up to the minute news service is allowed a few errors of this kind. They would fix it all up by late afternoon...wouldn't they?
Dang. It's 3.28pm and The Fev still faces a Brownlow charge. Or does he? Those group afternoon naps at The Age online are really taking their toll. Surely a couple of Caroline Wilson snarls or the odd thump from Barry Hall would keep them on their toes?

I notice Caroline Wilson has been quick to backtrack from her earlier unfair article about the 'Fev flashing incident' and wrote another one pointing to the fact he's totally innocent. Worried about defamation action is she? Caz has been stalking him relentlessly because she can't stand men who aren't sympathetic to the liberal womyn's angry narrow view of the world.
