Shock death of Melissa Rafter (Zoe Ventoura) in Packed to the Rafters after car crash.

Wow, and that was an almightly good episode of Packed to the Rafters. Or was it? Do i really care? Well, not too much. This is probably just a really blatant attempt to cash in on a hot topic. But the episode does play into my pet obsession with road safety.

Pity about the exit though - Zoe Ventura was one of the best things about the show. I guess that means she wont be coming back. She has apparently moved to Los Angeles to further her career. Good luck to her.

I will say that while the lead up was a bit lame, and the endless promos exhausting, the final scenes of this show were really well done. Australian drama doesnt always work well, but this did.

Anyway, Mel Rafter dies after being distracted by a mobile phone and runs through a stop sign. Thankfully this show is bound to have been watched by millions of Australians, and therefore at least some of them will have been moved enough to note the warning. Dont get distracted while driving - this could happen to you.

Firstly, here is the song i believe was played at the end of the episode, I Go To Sleep by SIA. And following that is a little traffic safety commercial from the UK.

Thank you grumpy. I knew it was Sia singing through my tears, but I did not know the title. You're awesome, thanks.

I wonder if they will find out that when she died she was pregnant. Poor Ben will be soooo heartbroken.

About Just Grumpy

Im not a right wing nut job, far from it. I just believe that the world doesnt owe you a living, you make your own luck (was that Kevin Rudd?) and if you work hard you can succeed.

Thats not to say that we shouldnt help those who cant help themselves. I have a firm belief in giving a helping hand up to those who genuinely need it. (please give generously to my linked charities)

I call myself a realist and i want to tell it like it is. Somebody has to speak the truth. Because seriously, what a selfish bunch of insular tools we have become in today's dreamy Australia.

Maybe we arent so different to the rest of the world. And maybe it was always this way.

Anyway, until things change, i remain young and grumpy.
